Base Expansion

The municipality of Runavík, where Atlantic Supply Base is located, and which is responsible for management of Runavíkar harbour, is committed to providing the company with the best possible framework to operate within. Part of this commitment is to continuously expand the harbour area and the quayside in line with the increasing activity on the base.

In the summer of 2002, the first phase of the harbour's expansion programme was completed, adding 12.000 m2 of harbour area and 100 m of quayside with minimum depth of 12 m to the existing facilities on the base. The additional capacity now available will allow Atlantic Supply Base to expand its activities beyond the Faroes CS to UK CS, WOS (West of Shetlands) on the Atlantic Margine.

The next phase of the harbour expansion programme will be initiated as and when the activity level on the base justifies so doing.

Port of Runavík

80-thousand square meters of new port and industrial area at the Port of Runavík.

09 October 2015

The Municipality of Runavík is planning to build 80,000 square meters of new area for port and industrial purposes.

The interaction between the port and the industrial area is very important to a large part of the industry that takes place along the Skálafjord. At the same time the demand for services from the Port of Runavík increases, as well as the industrial companies’ needs for areas close to the port also increases.

The project includes, in addition to the 80,000 m2 width of berth, 800 m of longside with a draft of 12-15 meters.

The first part of the construction work will be finished in 2016 and 2017.
